VILLA HOLIDAYS ZANTE  – GREECE GROWS IN POPULARITY

As the sun begins to set on the villa holidays  Zante 2107 it appears as if the Greek tourism industry has plenty to celebrate.

This year Greece has received record breaking numbers of visitors with over 30 million visitors to it’s islands and mainland. To put it into perspective this is three times the Greek population!

Elena Kountoura , the tourism minister presented to the Panhellenic Exporters Association mid July. Between “January and May there had been a noticeable increase in arrivals, revenues and occupancy rates. This has  lead to summer bookings in some areas rising by as much as 70%. Travel receipts grew by 2.4% or €23m (£20m).” (Guardian , 1st July 2017)

Speaking to villa owners, shopkeepers and restaurant managers in Zakynthos this summer it was fantastic to hear that a busy and successful summer was being reported and sales were up. Arrivals from UK visitors alone have increased by 40% this year. This year, 2017 , Conde Naste ranked Greece in its top 3 most popular traveller destinations. This trend is set to continue into 2018 with many villa owners and hoteliers already sold out for July and August

VILLA HOLIDAYS ZANTE – THE ‘SEASON’ IS GETTING LONGER

Areas such as Agios Nikolaos, Volimes in Zakynthos are focusing their efforts on improving the quality of the offerings for tourists and extending the holiday season.   The Asteri Collection in this stunning corner of North East Zakynthos is an example of increased investment in high quality villas. These villas are now opening their doors to guests from Easter right the way through until the beginning of November.

With warm temperatures and good direct flights its seems to make sense to give guests as long a season as possible.Also to give them more in which to visit this beautiful country. Fabulous new restaurants are opening up and offering customers great choice and improved service. The airport has improved its security hall, café and toilet facilities. Additionally the road improvement scheme on the island is well underway.

This wave of popularity continues  is set to grow. It is expected that other resorts on Zakynthos and Cephalonia will begin to extend its tourism season from 2018. Airlines such as Easy Jet have responded to consumer demand. Flights are now scheduled right until the beginning of November. This extension encompasses the English half term is a perfect time for last blast of sun before winter.
